  • Drone: It’s a great place to get some awesome drone footage
  • Relax: If you want, you can simply work on your tan there as well.

Preparation before visiting Sugba Lagoon

  • You only go to the Sugba Lagoon, you’ll only need half a day.
  • So, eat a good breakfast, then you’ll be done by lunch and can grab something to eat at the Del Carmen port or when you return to General Luna.
  • You are welcome to bring snacks with you.
  • You are not allowed to bring plastic with you…so no plastic bottles
  • Get the first boat. This place gets crowded, so try to go on a weekday as well.
  • Bring water shoes; they’re extremely useful  protecting your feet from sharp  coral.

Can i DIY island hopping in Siargao for a day?

If you do it yourself, you’ll need to hire a boatman and a boat for a day, which can cost between 1500 and 2000 pesos. You need to have your itenary with private boatman.  Purchase your own snorkeling equipment to bring with you on your adventures. It’s more sanitary, more convenient, and, believe me, you’ll be in the water a lot!

Naked Island:

As the name suggests, Naked Island is a small, uninhabited sandbar with no trees or shade. It’s a perfect spot for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying the stunning views. Other islands are just nearby.

 

 

Guyam Island: This tiny island is just a short boat ride away from General Luna. It features beautiful coconut trees, white sand beaches, and clear waters ideal for snorkeling.

Daku Island: Another nearby island, Daku Island, is known for its long stretch of powdery white sand and is a great spot for picnics, swimming, and beach volleyball.

Maasin River:

Take a refreshing dip in the emerald waters of Maasin River, surrounded by lush greenery and limestone formations. It’s a peaceful spot for swimming and relaxing.  You It costs 20 peso’s to park here and another 20 pesos for entrance fee for Palm Tree Rope Swing Entrance Fee which you can swing as many as you can.

On the Siargao Circumferential Road, you’ll find the Maasin River. It’s about 18 kilometers from General Luna and should take you about 25 minutes to ride alone. When you reach the iconic red bridge crossing the Maasin River, you’ll know you’ve arrived.

 

Thing to do in Maasim River

  • Rope swings: One of the highlights of Maasin River is the presence of rope swings that hang from trees along the riverbank. Visitors can enjoy the thrill of swinging and dropping into the water, adding an element of adventure to their experience.
  • Bamboo rafts: Bamboo rafts are available for rent, allowing visitors to leisurely cruise along the river. These rafts offer a unique way to explore the area and take in the natural surroundings at a relaxed pace.

  • You can also hire a boat and paddle up the river, this costs 150 pesos for 1 hour.

Taktak Falls:

Embark on a short trek to Taktak Falls, a hidden gem tucked away in the forest. Enjoy the natural beauty, swim in the refreshing waters, and take in the serene atmosphere. This is the only water falls in Siargao which complete the entire tour experience.

Taktak Falls is located on the northern tip of Siargao. It should take about 1.5 hours to drive there, but don’t worry. The scenery and landscapes are breathtaking.

Scooter or motorcycle renting

In General Luna, you can rent a scooter. Prices start around 500 pesos (9.65 dollars) and you can negotiate a discount if you rent it for more than a day.

However, if you want a reasonable price, I recommend leaving town and heading to the port. We rented a scooter right after getting off the ferry in Dapa for 275 pesos (5.31 dollars) per day.

 

Pacifico Beach:

If you’re looking for a quieter and more secluded beach, head to Pacifico Beach. It offers a long stretch of sandy shore, beautiful sunsets, and smaller crowds.
