The Zest Air was one of the affordable passenger plane that travel mostly in Manila – Cebu and Manila Davao route. I have boarded on this plane twice already and during my flight, i did not find not-usual yet the authorities ground them for a 4 major valid reasons.
1. The plane was found refueling even there are passengers on board. If any accident occur during refueling, these passengers will be wife out.
2. The pilots of this airplane were over work. Their flying limit exceeded from mandate. If you are tired and over worked, you could be sleepy and your brain do not work properly. I worked in the office and if I lacked sleeps i got many paper error. So what more if you are vehicle driver or in this case airplane pilot.
3. The fuel coupling cap of the airplane was found missing. Wow this is major issue and it means negligence. The fuel might be leaking already since it does not have coupling. In a spark of thunder this could lead to disaster.
As a vehicle owner, we are instructed by the Land Transportation Authority to inspects the vehicle before and after the travel. It has been my practice as responsible driver.
For sure this Zest Air did not practice self inspection. To think that re-fueling airplane with passengers is clear violation of the rules. The plane is just suspended and it will go back in the air this September. Yet judging from the incident and kind of attitudes of the management. My 2 rides is the first and last.
