MSSES Conducts A One Week Jounalism Training

Because the incoming Grade four and five students are inexperienced in Campus Journalism, MSSES Grade five teacher, Ms. Jennifer Alidon, conducts a One Week Journalism Training for the incoming Grade four, five and six students. It is held at the Grade five classroom at May 12-16, 2014.

They are taught about the definition of Journalism and the basics of news writing on the first day; editorial writing and cartooning on the second day; feature and sports writing on the third day; copy reading and headline writing on the fourth day; and photojournalism on the last day.

“I hoped Teacher Jen would acknowledge my skills in Cartooning and Photojournalism,” an incoming Grade six, who was new to Journalism, said. “I would really like to have my work on the newspaper.”

Though they were slightly dismayed at the amount of money that they had to pay, they still looked forward to completing the Journalism Training.
