Future Gilas Prospect – Batang Gilas 2022

Sept 25, 2023 after the G16 lost to CHina for 3rd place. Batang Gilas qualified for WC as 4th placer. The boys did not win against China as they use height advantage.  To our surprise Josh Reyes the known coach of the batang Gilas once again failed to get bigmen from the following qualified batang gilas.

  • Andwil Yap 14, 6’9
  • Deydi de Ocampo 15, 6’7 – son of Rhanidel de Ocampo
  • Tyler Reyes 14, 6’7
  • Prince Cariño 14, 6’5

 

The height of Filipino has increased in recent years. During the time of Benjie Paras, a 6’5′ is already big center but now the 6’5″ is an ideal guard and wingman. These are the list of possible Gilas player that should be train in the system

  • Kobe Demisana 6’9 as of 2021 playing for UPIS – He played in Jr NBA and display a decent contribution.
  • Mon Salvoro 6’9″ – has good dribbling skills like guard, has good shooting skills. solid behind the back dribbling skills
  • Ladis Lepalam  6′ 9”- Benilde NCAA player as of 2021. Good 3pt shooter and mid-range, with post-move, hard worker. Wide arm span, good shot blocker, quick and agile. He can dribble and layup properly.
  • Raven Cortez 6’7″ good defender, the poor shooter, needs more aggressiveness, he can dribble. widebody span. DLSU committed
  • Seven Gagate 6’9″ as of 2021 with dribbling skills, wide-body, with shooting, playing for dlsu – need more time and experience. Because of his wide body, he is fit as a training partner for Coach Tab during Calamba bubble as they are preparing for Asian games. Weakness nya mababa ang jump. Average 23pts per game. Invited by Inspired Academy from USA. Might continue HS in USA. Solid cross-over dribbler.
  • Jayden Harper 6-7 – slum dunking 16 years old PhilAm, with superior pt guard and shooting skills, 3pt shooting skills,  angas player and good finisher. This is MVP caliber that is not only potential for Gilas but also NBA. Rank 26th in his class.

  • Mason Amos 6’7  – Brisbane high school player, good body built, average speed, superior shooter, agile, step-back jumper, matured player, averaged 23pts per game. Invited by Inspired Academy from USA. Might continue HS in USA. Solid cross-over dribbler.
