What to Wear in New York

About a year ago one of my readers, Art Escort and enthusiast Helene wrote to me and said she was re-inventing herself after losing her husband. She was starting her own business.

Helene had been involved with the local art scene for years and was now giving guided tours focusing on art events and galleries in Chelsea’s art district. She was such an inspiration that I even featured her in one of my posts on how to dress Age-Amazing™(amazing for your age!)

Helen’s incredible tours are loaded with lots of interesting facts and history. On a recent tour, she stopped to show her group the Comme des Garcons store just because it was like a work of art itself.

From these photos, you will see that you wouldn’t even know the store is there.

Here’s what it looks like when you are standing across the street.

Inside there is a highly edited collection with lots of wacky and way out fashion as to be expected from them!

Would you think this was a couture boutique?

Of course, they sell a “toned down” version of their designs at  Saks and Bloomingdales, but Helen likes to show her groups how very interesting it is to view their couture pieces in such an artistic setting.

Helene, herself is like a walking piece of art. She loves creative jewelry. This gorgeous necklace was made by a talented artist from Rhode Island, Susan.

If you’d like to meet Helene, she gives private and group cultural tours in NYC. For “insider” Art events or just getting a little more educated about Contemporary  Art, let Art Escort NYC be your guide! 800-668-1443  www.artescortnyc.com
